NVDA Coach Llega al Mundo Hispanohablante
Amigos, tengo algo grande que compartir.
Cuando creé NVDA Coach, lo hice porque vi una necesidad real. Personas ciegas y con baja visión de todo el mundo necesitaban una forma práctica e interactiva de aprender NVDA — no solo leer un manual, sino realmente practicar con lecciones guiadas directamente dentro del lector de pantalla. Algo gratuito, de código abierto y accesible para cualquiera.
Pero desde el principio, supe que NVDA Coach no podía ser solo para la comunidad angloparlante.
Así que lo estamos haciendo realidad.
NVDA Coach se está expandiendo a las comunidades hispanohablantes — y no estoy hablando solo de traducir el texto. Estamos llevando esta herramienta directamente a institutos de ceguera, centros de rehabilitación y programas de tecnología asistiva en España, México y toda América Latina. Países como Bolivia, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Perú, Ecuador y más están en nuestro radar.
¿Por qué importa esto?
Existen millones de personas ciegas y con baja visión en comunidades hispanohablantes que no tienen acceso a formación estructurada en lectores de pantalla en su propio idioma. NVDA es gratuito. NVDA Coach es gratuito. Pero la formación de calidad en español — eso ha sido un vacío enorme. Estamos aquí para cambiarlo.
No lo estamos haciendo solos
Quiero reconocer a alguien increíble que ha sido clave en este esfuerzo: Mateo Quintela, en Bolivia, quien se ha convertido en un enlace fundamental para conectarnos con organizaciones y profesionales de todo el continente. Mateo ha sido mucho más que un traductor — ha sido un puente entre culturas, ayudándonos a entender las necesidades reales de las comunidades que queremos servir.
Este tipo de colaboración es lo que hace que NVDA Coach sea diferente. No estamos llegando a decir “aquí tienen, úsenlo.” Estamos construyendo esto juntos.
¿Qué viene ahora?
Estamos en contacto activo con organizaciones en siete países de América Latina, además de España y México. La meta es simple: poner NVDA Coach en las manos de las personas que más lo necesitan, en el idioma que hablan todos los días.

NVDA Coach Comes to the Spanish-Speaking World
Friends, I’ve got something big to share.
When I built NVDA Coach, I did it because I saw a real need. Blind and low-vision people around the world needed a hands-on, interactive way to learn NVDA — not just reading a manual, but actually practicing with guided lessons right inside the screen reader. Something free, open-source, and available to anyone.
But from day one, I knew NVDA Coach couldn’t just be for the English-speaking community.
So we’re making it happen.
NVDA Coach is expanding into Spanish-speaking communities — and I’m not just talking about translating the text. We’re bringing this tool directly to blindness institutes, rehabilitation centers, and assistive technology programs across Spain, Mexico, and Latin America. Countries like Bolivia, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, and more are on our radar.
Why does this matter?
There are millions of blind and low-vision people in Spanish-speaking communities who don’t have access to structured screen reader training in their own language. NVDA is free. NVDA Coach is free. But quality training in Spanish — that’s been a massive gap. We’re here to change that.
We’re not doing this alone
I want to give a huge shoutout to someone who’s been instrumental in this effort: Mateo Quintela, based in Bolivia, who has become a vital liaison connecting us with organizations and professionals across the continent. Mateo has been so much more than a translator — he’s been a bridge between cultures, helping us understand the real needs of the communities we’re trying to serve.
This kind of collaboration is what makes NVDA Coach different. We’re not showing up and saying “here, use this.” We’re building this together.
What’s next?
We’re in active contact with organizations across seven Latin American countries, plus Spain and Mexico. The goal is simple: get NVDA Coach into the hands of the people who need it most, in the language they speak every day.
