September and October: everything that shipped

Two months, a lot of releases, one conference, and a podcast that is back. Here is all of it in one place, newest first.

Word Champion is out

Word Champion is my first paid program at TG Studios. Five word games, fifty typing lessons, a talking dictionary and a journal, built for blind and low-vision learners of any age. Every screen speaks, through your screen reader or the Windows voice. Each typing lesson tells you which key to press and which finger to use, and the games take any fair answer, not only the one they had in mind. For low vision there is large text, colour schemes and high contrast.

It is $14.99, one payment, and the whole program is free for 14 days so you can decide for yourself. Windows.

NYSAER 2026

I spent the weekend in Saratoga Springs at the New York AER annual conference. This year's theme was AI for blind and visually impaired people: access to learn, tools to thrive. That is pretty much my book. I gave the opening session on Sunday night, then two workshops on Monday for the teachers, O&M instructors, rehabilitation staff and counselors in the room.

Thank you to the NYSAER committee for having me. If you want something like this for your conference or agency, email me and I will send topics, fees and availability.

The Tony Gebhard Show is back

Season six started with Matthew Whitaker. A new album, a world tour, a teaching job, and a lot of kindness at the TG table.

No Sight Required: corrections, and a second edition

A keystroke review of the first edition turned up mistakes, mostly JAWS and TalkBack commands, plus a terminal chapter that gave a wrong instruction. The copies in my store were corrected on 17 October, in English and Spanish.

And yes, a second edition is in the works. More when it is ready.

TG Drop Deck 3.9.0

You can now export a board with its sounds. File, Export board writes a folder holding the board and every sound on it, so you can hand a show to someone else or move it to another computer. And when you open a board whose sounds have moved, Drop Deck looks beside the board for them. Thank you to Ali Moosa and Siena Trigiani, whose feedback drove this release.

September was the Mac's month: video recording in sync, a cue sheet, a delay for each source, and a way to test your audio cable before you go live. I wrote up the Mac fixes here.

TG Spaces 1.1: stereo input

TG Spaces is my free convolution reverb, 190 places built from a model of the acoustics. Version 1.1 adds stereo input. Put it on a mix bus, guitars, drums, everything, and each side of the mix becomes its own source on a stage in the same room. Hard left stays left, and the room still answers from the right. Stage width sets how far apart they sit. Sessions from 1.0 open sounding the way they did. Windows and Mac.

No se requiere vista

No Sight Required is now in Spanish, as No se requiere vista, translated by Mateo Quintela. Same book, same keystrokes. EPUB, Word and PDF, $15.

Infamous, from RT Games

My brother Ryder and I are RT Games. We are both blind and we love games with great audio, so we make them. Infamous is our first: an online zombie survival game you play entirely by ear. Open world and battle royale, cars, boats, a train, weather, and zombies that hunt by sound. Windows, 18 and over.

It is in closed beta now. The open beta gets announced at the end of November or early December. Sign up and you will get one email when it does.

NVDA Coach 1.6.0

NVDA Coach now speaks nine languages. Japanese and Polish joined, and Brazilian Portuguese is finished. 45 lessons across six chapters, free, in the NVDA Add-on Store.

TG Imprint, open beta

TG Imprint is a free PDF creator that writes PDFs a screen reader can actually read. Real headings, real lists, a description on every picture, and a check on the finished file before you send it. It fills in PDF forms too, from a list rather than a page. Free, MIT licensed, Windows.

Also new: American Explorer

The fifty states, the District of Columbia and five territories, read aloud. Browse by region, look any of them up, or quiz yourself on capitals and nicknames. Free.

What's next

The second edition of the book. The Infamous open beta. More episodes of the show. And whatever you tell me I should build next: info@tonygebhard.me.

Always remember, you matter.
